About Guardfix Roofing & Building Ltd
27 Years of Manchester Roofs — Built on Getting It Right the First Time
Guardfix Roofing & Building Ltd was built on a simple idea: tell people exactly what's wrong with their roof, quote them a fair price to fix it, and do the work properly the first time so they're not calling anyone back out in two years.
27 years later, that's still the whole philosophy. We've worked on Victorian slate terraces in Chorlton, post-war semis in Sale, flat-roofed extensions in Salford, and everything in between — and in all that time the jobs that go well are the ones where the homeowner knew exactly what they were paying for before any work started.

What We Believe In
Straight answers, not sales pitches. If your roof needs a simple repair, that's what we'll quote you for. We don't inflate jobs, invent problems, or push for a full re-roof when three slates and a repoint will do the job properly.
Fixed prices, no surprises. The quote we give you before the job is the invoice you get after it. If something changes once we're on the roof, we stop and call you — we don't just carry on and explain the extra cost afterward.
Written guarantees, not verbal promises. Every job is backed by a written guarantee — 5 years on repairs and roofline work, 10 years on new roofs and flat roofs. If something we've done fails within that period, we come back and fix it at no charge.
Why 27 Years Matters on Manchester Roofs
Experience isn't just a number on a website — here's what it actually means for the work we do.
We know Manchester's housing stock inside out. Victorian terraces built on Welsh slate and lime mortar. Edwardian semis with original lead flashing that's never been touched. 1930s and post-war properties with concrete tile and timber that's now 70-80 years old. Every era of Manchester housing fails in slightly different ways, and three decades of working on them means we recognise the problem before we've even got the ladder up.
We've seen what happens when repairs are done badly. A large part of the work we carry out is fixing other roofers' shortcuts — sand-and-cement mortar slapped onto Victorian lime mortar chimneys, sealant sprayed over failed flashing instead of replacing it, ridge tiles re-bedded without addressing why they failed in the first place. Twenty-seven years of seeing what goes wrong is exactly what teaches you how to do it right.
We've built relationships, not just job lists. A lot of our work in recent years comes from people we worked for a decade ago, recommending us to a neighbour or family member. That only happens when the work holds up and the person quoting the job is straight with you from the start.
